Breckenridge
The rest of these pictures were taken with my little Panasonic Lumix - 5 megapixels, but about the size of a cigarette pack. These don't make professional prints like my Canon does, but since it's not half as heavy as a small car, I always have it with me and I take shots I wouldn't otherwise get.
The first picture is me, when my pal Craig cajoled me into climbing above the top of the T-bar. Huffing and puffing, I made it a third of the way up (about 400 vertical feet). The next three shots are as high as I got - but still way above the Breckenridge that tourists see. That's Craig in the next pic. That's also him at the end of the row demonstrating flawless jumping technique. The smooth landing from his jump is called the Knee Biter which creates a pleasant sensation in both the chin and lower back. He's promised to teach it to me this year (don't miss the landing picture, the first shot on the bottom row).
This year a new lift will get you almost all the way to the top of this ridge. I can't wait to get there. Will I ski that gap you see in the third picture? I'm sure it'll look a little different staring down into it than it does sitting in my recliner chair.
The second and third picture show what happens when wind blows snow into a bowl. It hadn't
snowed that day, yet it was like butter. I'd never seen that before - all of a sudden
at 3 in the afternoon, everybody was skiing like a pro. Down below it was a sunny day -
way up high the wind was howling and the few people up there had a real experience.
The last shot is just looking up into my favorite trees that hardly anyone skis (off
Volunteer into the Needles).
