Vail

I used to think of Vail as the Dallas Cowboys (click for definition) of ski areas. One day of skiing the back bowls with someone who knows them showed me why, in some ways, it's probably the best ski area in the US. The bowls are 'vahst' - each one could hold 8 or 10 NFL stadiums - maybe more, it's hard to say. You go down into one, come up the other side, and there's another one. Each as big as many major ski areas.

I had a couple of days there last year that were in the handful of "best evers". But I only went there to ski, never to shoot pictures, so these are all pocketcam pics. This year I have to sacrifice a few minutes of ski time and shoot pics with the Canon. Still, you can see how beautiful it is from these pics (pics 3 and 4 are my own tracks - always fun to look at).
