Wildlife
Shot right off the deck from my condo in Colorado last winter (2005). I'll look for him again this year - but if he's walking on the snow like this, the skiing probably isn't great.
I Shot a Bear in my Wetsuit...
How he got in my wetsuit, I'll never know.
I don't pretend to be a wildlife photographer - but I got lucky twice in the spring of 2003.
We were on the access road to the Glen Onoko takeout from the Lehigh (about one hour north of Philadelphia) after a day of kayaking. At first, we thought we saw a large dog running on the path next to the road. Realizing it was a small bear, I had to get my camera from the rear of our car. Journalist that I am, I gave no thought to the mama possibly lurking nearby. He first ran to the woods on our right, but couldn't find a way up the hill. The poor scared little guy, fortunately for me, ran back across the road where I got these shots. What a cute face!
That same spring, my job took me to the outskirts of Phoenix where we were conducting a field test. We'd spend the day in the desert, operating our equipment. Between tests, I'd go off shooting pictures of cactii - and when necessary, I'd water a bush or two. Imagine our surprise when this handsome fellow emerged from one of the bushes... after that, all shrubbery was treated with a great deal of respect.
Ever hear the joke that ends - "What'd the doctor say?" "He said you're gonna die"
I didn't want that to happen to me - and I knew that's what Latka, my coworker, would've told me.
